You've probably heard that you should eat lots of colors but why? it's the phytochemicals! Phyto- means plant so a phytochemical is simply a chemical that only certain colors of plants produce. More importantly, each of these color classes of phytochemicals have different beneficial effects on the body. Some protect us from aging, while others improve our stamina, and protect our cells from damage.
TIPS for eating your fruits and veggies :)
- If you don't like it, add it to something. (Like a smoothie)
- If it keeps rotting in your fridge, buy it frozen.
- If it takes too long to prepare, buy it in a can.
- If you don't like it, puree it and add it back in. (So you can't pick it out!)
