How many times have you had restless nights thinking of all that went on during the day? A bedtime ritual can help you move into sleep quicker and stay in a deeper sleep longer. If you have children you probably do this already with bedtime stories, songs, prayers, etc. Why not try a bedtime practice, something gentle to release the tension of the day. Then yoga nidra, which means yogic sleep, a state of conscious sleep for relaxation and an essential tool for rejuvenation. During yoga nidra, reflect on and mentally travel backward through your day in half hour or hour stages. You have to go back in time as if your were watching a film in reverse, or a series of slides. Stage by stage recall what you were doing, thinking, and feeling and then release them without attachment. This will help you to digest the day and awake in the morning feeling renewed.
